Back in the Game

Back in the Game

RR Exeter

Yesterday marked the end of a chapter in my life which went on for much longer than I originally planned – my search for a club.  I haven’t played in a competitive game of football since I left Shamrock Rovers back in December and oh how I have missed it!  I know that fans talk about footballers’ pay, time off etc but for me it really is all about the game time.  The last few months have been tough, I’ve travelled up and down the country, attended trials with different teams and been disappointed on several occasions.  There were times when I questioned if I was doing the right thing, when I could have so easily packed up my stuff and gone abroad again.  It hasn’t all been bad, I was fortunate enough to get to train back at my old Spurs stomping ground and I have also met lots of inspiring people on my journey.

But I am now pleased to be able to say that I am officially back in English football.  I have signed with Exeter City FC until the end of the season and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and play my part in the run in.  I came down to Exeter last week to train with the boys and I instantly liked the city, the people are great and there is wonderful support for the club.  Of course it helps that  my old team mate David Noble is down here to make me feel at home.  I have a lot of admiration for Paul Tisdale and I am thrilled to be joining his team.  It’s going to be a tough few weeks and I am relishing the challenge ahead.

I have played football quite literally all over the world in the last few years but I was determined to come to back to England, where it all started for me.  Nothing beats playing over here and I am going to make the most of every minute on the pitch.  It’s time to start the next chapter…
